Our trip to the Bath Half Marathon

Five Arrive in Bath (eventually)

We set out Saturday morning in plenty of time to get to Tiverton Parkway. This was successful so we relaxed with a coffee before our train.

As the time neared for our scheduled train to Bath we stood on the platform. Pauline saw some fellow runners and went to chat. A train arrived and luggage in hand we scrambled on board. Said runners also got on same train!

Once seated we questioned if other runners were also running Bath half marathon. No, Pauline told us “ they’re on a jolly to London”. Nobody thought anymore of this. We got to Westbury when Nicola says Westbury isn’t on route to Bristol? (our changeover station) Sarah and I replied, “ no, it’s fine it must be a detour due to engineering work”. At this point we’re not particularly worried.

Next station Newbury, now we are concerned! Sarah totters off and asks someone who knows what they’re talking about! Whoops! We’re on the wrong train! On advice we travelled to Reading, departed this train and then had to travel back to Bath! Well we got there in the end!

We all successfully made it to the start line and finished!

We’re off to Cardiff in October if anyone wants to join us for an adventure?

Pauline Pyke 1.40.40

Jacqui Couch 1.59.38

Nicola Morris 2.03.57

Sarah Bright 2.20.49

Jennie Alford 2.13.22, soon to be a club member!

Michaela Hillman 1.52.07, fortunate enough not to travel with us!
